Part of my campaign to “save” Experimental Type from be canceled at Kent State University next semester. There is only 5 people signed up for this class and I’m doing my best to change that. The class offers students a unique chance to use metal and wood type on several Vandercook Universal presses.
The Curators Team of Glossom made my Infographic Poster about Escape Velocity one of their Featured Collection of all users on therir Homepage and Explore section:

Getting together something for a chili recipe card (it is called “V8 Chili) for Experimental Type. I’ll be sending this off to Boxcar Press so I can get to the presses soon.

The Photo Tech Diptych Portrait assignment had us making portraits for an American publication doing an article on “American Past-times.” I picked “competitive sports” as mine and contacted friends who played various sports currently, or have in the past.
You can click on any of the images and see some more details on the strobist info. Not detailed though. I am still new to it.
Answer: BOO ties
I am now working on a Halloween card for Experimental Type. I’m really interested in finally taking this class. I’ve been fortunate to have friends in the right places to help me get experience working with type and the letterpress the last few years. But now I really get to produce projects and I am really looking forward to it. This is a work in progress sample.
Up next: making the illustration, finishing type plate, and sample prints before my first run at the press.
Shameless plug. I know I haven’t been very active on here this summer. I formally want to let the people of Tumblr and the internet know that I haven’t taken my talents to twitter. I’m just kind of working on a million things that aren’t finished enough to post here.
But!
The interesting news. The lovely and talented Erika Lhotsky asked me to model for her “Throwback Photography Series” she did earlier this year. My role of course, was to take on a persona not far from the famous Don Draper of AMC’s Mad Men. Turns out, they have an official AMC Mad Men Casting Call this summer that ends September 16th, 2010. I decided to enter this picture (with her approval of course) and put myself up for the ultimate in internet democracy to see if I can win. If I get enough votes, I win a chance to be on the show. Of course, I’m asking you voter, if I can count on your vote everyday between now and September 16th. I promise not to robo call!
You can vote once a day every single day until September 16th! So help me out!

I promise, if I win, to document the entire process as throughly as I can for you all to see and I will post it all here. Also, I promise to start updating this soon. I have quite a few things to start sharing again. Thank you in advance for your support friends!
For my final project in TypoPhoto we had to make an Annual Report. I chose Harley-Davidson. With a strong brand, following, and the executive leadership that has taken them through The Great Depression and The Great Recession, Harley has endured a lot of economic ups and downs. I put a focus on their history and the people/culture that make them who they are.
