Another abandoned house
I’m starting to realize I either have a knack for finding really creepy places or there is a plethora of dead/dying/near death structures in this section of the state. Once again on another photography adventure, I stumbled into the strangest of locations. I happened to decided to go down a road that I did not know existed that curves along the back of one of the larger apartment complexes in Kent. On this street it seemed was one house. Even on Google Maps (which I was using on my phone to try and find a short cut to where I wanted to be) it appeared that there was only one house. So when the road ended into a gravel clutter and about waist high grass/plant growth, I was more than surprised to find what was left of a driveway leading to a house that was losing a fight against nature.

It appeared that the house wasn’t terribly old, perhaps made in the 60’s or 70’s but definitely no older than that. But it also seemed that this house has been empty for the last 10 years…. possibly more. Walking around the house I found I wasn’t the only person to discover it in recent time. The doors were open and the windows had already been busted out. Inside there was an amazing amount of debris just laying about that had fallen from the ceiling. Walls were shattered looking and caving in on themselves where the water heater used to be. I was fairly shocked.

This house, more interestingly was incredibly cold and dark. Even with the lack of curtains or anything blocking the upstairs windows, I had a pretty hard time taking decent photos. Between seeing that the fireplace had been attempted to be used, a few decaying corpses of seemingly flattened animals and filthy nature of the place, nothing was more creepy than the bathroom…. which I am not entirely sure is rust in this bathtub:

I have quite a few more of these shots on my Flickr account page. Check them out there. Other than that, I’d love to go back sometime with a tripod, unfortunately the completely random chance that I found this place with led for a interesting challenge. I heard a few things from you guys with the last ones I posted so I just figured I’d share some more of these with you.
I also do not recommend that you go out there and try and hunt places like this down either. They are incredibly unsafe, and haven’t been maintained in years so its likely that you are risking injury due to the structure’s abandoned state. So tread carefully if you absolutely must. Feel free to email me if you know of anything I have not seen yet and know about, or have some of your own photos to share.
I think it would be rather fascinating to document more places like this, especially places that are in these kinds of conditions that people have no idea exist or forget about entirely! It is already amazing to me that I have seen as many places as I have around here and to think that most people in the area have little to no knowledge of it existing. Eventually due to nature or mankind, this place won’t exist anymore and I am happy I was able to discover it before either fate befalls it. Other than that, I’ll return soon with some new stuff and perhaps even more interesting places from my next adventure. Till then.
