Goal #1

This is entry number 1 in my on going series of things I want to accomplish.  They will likely be design related somehow.

At Cary-Grove High School in Cary, IL I was introduced to Auto CAD on a sparkling new Power Mac G3. My teacher for the class, Mr. Norton was a craftsman and an architect if I remember correctly. He taught the class that introduced me to the concept of using computer aided drafting and design to make houses and other buildings. It was quite an eye opening experience to use Auto CAD on a powerful computer like that in 1999 as a freshman in high school. I realize now, though I don’t regret landing in design, I do wonder about what I’d be doing in that parallel universe where I am in school for architecture instead.

So, instead of wondering further, I have decided that my ultimate accomplishment will be designing my own house and having it built. It isn’t my prime directive, but when the time is right, it will be something that I am going to make sure I do in my lifetime. So until then, this is will mark the beginnings of my personal investigation into architecture, modernism (post-ultra-modernism even), interior and industrial design that will end in the production of my ultimate accomplishment. Or if it is good, perhaps my entry into something new at that time in my life. Here’s to goals!
