Free Comic Book Day 2010 Postcard
front
back
I designed the front and back of this year’s postcard for the Free Comic Book Day (It’s May 1st! Get to your local shop for free comics!).
John Dudas of Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop in Cleveland asked me to make the ad that will run in The Independent for the next few weeks as well as these postcards that will be handed out in the shop to anyone that comes in.
I purchased FCBD and 05.01.10 wood type at an antique store called Silver Eagle Antiques in Cuyahoga Falls last Thursday. It was awesome to use them. I feel like its been awhile since they got some use. The rest came from the Type High Press at Kent State. Colors are inspired by the original logo designed by Mikey Burton of Little Jacket.
Free Comic Book Day is a single day each year that many comic stores across North America give away 100% free comic books to any customer that comes in. It is the first Saturday in every May and many publishers participate.
John Dudas of Carol and John’s Comic Book Shop asked me to make the ad (running in full color on the back cover of The Independent) and the handout postcard for the event this year. Be sure to look out for the postcard here soon.
Make sure you attend May 1st and get your free comics. For what is available this year check here:
